Valve wants more retro titles on Steam

November 27th, 2007 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in DS 1 Comment »

Every game ever made should be on Steam according to Valve founder Gabe Newell. In a recent interview he mentioned that shelf space restrictions mean a whole lot of gaming history is invisible to current generation game designers. The Steam download service offers an ideal platform for retro titles, and will continue to expand. There’s even talk of the old LucasArts adventures, which always gets us excited.

A new Ghostbusters game is in the works! Set for release next year to coincide with the new movie, Ghostbusters the game casts the player as a new Ghostbuster as New York is overrun by creepy ghouls. Multiple versions of the game are on the way with Nocturne developer Terminal Reality taking care of the PS3, 360 and PC versions and Red Fly Studios handling the Wii and DS.

Ghostbusters is one of our favourite movies, the old 8-bit game was something of a classic too, so here’s hoping the update is just as good.

October 27th, 2007 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in DS, Japan No Comments »

The long awaited DS TV tuner is finally on the way. The peripharal is coming out on November 20 for a mere Y6800. The DS is very popular on Japanese trains, and the arial is pretty spiky looking. We wonder how long it will be before a commuter loses an eye on the way to work.

You’ll be able to use the touch screen to switch channels, adjust the volume etc.

Advance Wars DS 2 on Show in France

September 29th, 2007 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in DS 1 Comment »

Advance Wars DS is probably our favourite DS game here at JGG, and definitely the one we’ve spent the most time on. We’re a pretty tactically minded bunch, and we were pretty excited to see the sequel on show at the Micromania game show in Paris. The old favourite characters have been ditched and the cartoony feel has been replaced with a new, darker look. If we had one complaint about the last game, it would be that it was very similar to the previous GBA versions of the game. That makes this revamp a welcome surprise, and we’re really looking to see how the game shapes up. The only gameplay news we have is that a there’s a new bike unit in the game. It’s due out next year, so there’s a long wait ahead!
