Cooking Mama is looking busy

September 25th, 2008 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in Wii 4 Comments »

The new Cooking Mama game for Wii is looking very entertaining. There are over 50 recipes to prepare which cover everything from burgers to bread making. Most cooking will of course involve doing different things with the Wiimote. Spinning it, twisting it and shaking it depending on what Mama is trying to do. Wonder if we’ll be able to flip pancakes?

Pretend to run in the real world

September 23rd, 2008 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in Wii No Comments »

If, like us, you’re starting to tire of running through Wii Fit’s sunny landscapes with your half-baked Mii version of Michael Jackson then here is a treat for you. An extremely clever, and possibly insane Japanese person has written some code that lets you run round google street view using the Wiimote.

Google street view has been getting a lot of stick in Japan; largely due to people peeking at each others underwear, which is usually hung out in full view of passers by. Of course people are way too polite to look at it in real life, but Google street view is very much not real life. And running around with a Wiimote in your pocket starring at pants is not something we condone or recommend.

Who says monkeys can’t play golf?

September 13th, 2008 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in Wii 2 Comments »

It's a golf game, honest! Not us that’s for sure. Pro Golf Saru (Pro Golf Monkey) is one crazy looking beast. If Tiger Woods and his oh so serious games don’t float your boat then this might be for you. There are three characters to choose from. Geronimo, who can power up his shots by downing bottles of cola, Titan – a robot, and some kind of lady with insect powers whose name we don’t know. Gameplay seems to involve swinging your club round your head by doing the same with the Wiimote.

I don’t think this will be one for the simulator crowd, but it looks like a lot of fun, and might just be worth 6090 yen when it comes out on October 23rd.

Click through for a couple more screens.

Nintendo Releasing Wireless Network Adapter

September 10th, 2008 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in DS, Nintendo, Wii 1 Comment »

Nintendo have just announced the release of a wireless network adapter. The device will allow you to connect your Wii and DS to a home network. Judging by the diagrams on the site, you won’t be able to use it to connect other devices, such as a PC, although we can’t confirm this yet. The adapter costs 5800 yen, which seems a bit steep if you can’t use it with other devices. For the record, the Wii connects to most standard wireless adapters without problems, although the DS needs to piggy back off the Wii’s connection.

Captain Rainbow’s Popularity Quest

August 19th, 2008 ThreeHeadedMonkey Posted in Wii No Comments »

Nintendo’s bizarre looking Captain Rainbow is due out later this month for the Wii. The game looks to be something of an otaku’s dream with a cast of minor characters from old Nintendo games, such as Punchout and Zelda: Link’s Awakening. You have to help people achieve their dreams, which makes you more popular. The soldiers from Famicom Wars, for example want to become good at volleyball.
