If you’re near a Japanese Uniqlo store next week, you’ll be able to pick up something from the new Pokemon kids range. Released to coincide with ‘Pokemon Festa 2007’, these fantastic items go for a mere 1000 yen each.

That blue Pikachu vest is almost enough to make us wish we were only 160cm tall.

Yamauchi not short of a few gold coins

Nintendo boss Hiroshi Yamauchi isn’t short of a few bob. Forbes Asia ranks him as the 3rd richest person in Japan, up from llth last year. He’s worth a cool $4.8 billion, much of which will be in Nintendo shares. The massive success of the Wii and DS have seen Nintendo stock triple in value since 2006.

The guy at number 1 on the list is a mere $700 million ahead of Yamauchi san, so who knows – if Nintendo’s boom continues he could hit the top spot.

Mario Galaxy and New Mii Channel Heading to Wii

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy will be released later this year.  Wii owners will also be getting a new Mii channel, allowing them to enter their creations into online competitions.  Miyamoto also told of his wife’s conversion to gaming stating ‘If we can combat my wife, we can combat anybody.’
